MinerGate GUI Miner v.6.4 released – Ethereum classic (ETC) mining

by

Earlier this week, Ethereum was hardforked, which technically resulted in moving to the new blockchain. MinerGate supported this decision and updated its pool servers, in order to continue to provide Ethereum mining.

However, despite the fact that the original Ethereum blockchain was officially abandoned, some community members came together to secure the former network and provide its further development. The project, which was called Ethereum Classic (ETC), is already listed on Coinmarketcap.com, available for trading on Poloniex.com and for exchange at Changelly.com.

Today, the MinerGate pool team is happy to announce support for Ethereum classic mining for all popular operating systems through the MinerGate GUI miner, Ethminer, and Genoil.

This decision was made out of a deep conviction that Ethereum could thrive without manual actions in the first place, as officially stated by our CEO, Claude Lecomte on Cryptocoinsnews.com last week. Having this in mind, MinerGate couldn’t miss the opportunity to encourage the development of the untouched original Ethereum blockchain.

Therefore, we encourage our users to welcome this “old new” cryptocurrency, and consider its mining along with the “mainstream” Ethereum and CryptoNote coins.

How to start mining Ethereum classic?

As already mentioned above, there are three easy ways to start mining Ethereum classic on MinerGate:

  1. MinerGate GUI miner. This is the easiest and the fastest way for ETC mining, both with CPU and GPU. Just download our updated GUI miner, launch it and start mining in two clicks. If you are new to MinerGate, you will also have to register your account, which will probably take ~ 1 minute. You can follow this brief GUI miner guide to get additional information.
  1. Ethminer. If you prefer official software, download Ethminer from official sources for your OS, and use the following commands to connect to the MinerGate pool:

For CPU mining:
ethminer -C -F http://eth.pool.minergate.com:51777/YOUR_EMAIL –disable-submit-hashrate

For GPU mining:
ethminer -G -F http://eth.pool.minergate.com:51777/YOUR_EMAIL –disable-submit-hashrate

Here’s the detailed instruction for mining with Ethminer on MinerGate.

  1. Genoil. To use a popular Ethminer fork, Genoil, download it from here.

Open CL:
ethminer -G -S eth.pool.minergate.com:45777 -O YOUR_EMAIL

CUDA:
ethminer -U -S eth.pool.minergate.com:45777 -O YOUR_EMAIL

You can follow the same detailed instruction to get more information.

So I updated my minersgate so I can mine classic. Am I able to mine both Classic and Ethereum? Or is the new Minersgate only Ethereum classic?

Also I’m not even sure if I’m mining Classic because the updated client still has ETH symbol/logo.

thanks:)

Dear Minergate support,

It seems I can’t mine Ethereum Classic using your pool 45777 (genoil). I have the error “failed to submit hashrate”, “Dynamic exception type: Class jsonrpc::JsonRpcExceptionstd::exception::what: Exception -32003 : Client connector error: libcurl error: 28 -> Operation timed out.

I tried the ETH pool and it seems work well. What can cause this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Guy

I’ve downloaded and installed Minergate 6.4 and I’m very disappointed that you can only mine 1 currency at a time. I’ve gone back to 6.3 as I can still mine ETH and ETC on that platform

Hello, you can mine both currencies in the version 6.4, although that’s not the best mining strategy, as it decreases your earnings.

I had lost the coin is obtained on minergate.com, they do not exist on the balance sheet. there is a photo miner (screenshot).

Help i got problems with the 64 bit version of minergate gui

everytime i open it says crash reporter has stopped working

Hello! The console version of our miner doesn’t support ETC or ETH yet. We will be updating it soon.

I had some balance in Etherium with MinerGate before the fork. Had not logged in for a long while. Now I can see that my balance is in Ethereum and I have no Eth Classic. At the moment of the fork you had balance in both, so where is my share of Eth Classic now?
